UPCOMING MEETING..

The next township board meeting is October 7 th. We'll find out how the Bisco's court case went. I hope the board doesn't reconsider the consent agreement with the Birkenshaw's. Let's make sure the board knows, we have not changed our minds on the adult bookstore. Like someone said last month, let them open a MacDonalds, at least it would be something the community could use and it's not offensive. Hope to see you all there again.

GOOD POINT MADE.....

It has been suggested that we give a woman a chance as supervisor of Riley Township. Considering this is the year of "The Woman" in politics nationwide, I think it's the perfect time to elect Kitty Slamka as our next supervisor. She would be a refreshing change for this township. I don't believe it makes any difference what party our local officials are, it's more important to elect the right person for the job. Like someone who will listen to us, or has the guts to say no when needed. Someone who really cares about Riley and ALL the people in it. Someone who is ready, willing, and able to fill the office of supervisor. The fact that she's a woman, just makes her more qualified. Think about it.So, come on women, let's stick together and vote for Kitty (and you men too). Just look for the name "Kitty Slamka" on election day and make your mark, then walk away knowing you made the right choice.

UPDATES...

The township board considered a consent judgment for the Birkenshaw's adult bookstore and they denied it. They had to increase the budget for legal fees, because of the court case against the Birkenshaw's. They also, updated their investment policy and received a digital camera for the assessor from the county emergency dept.

There's going to be a Euchre Tournament at the Belle River Golf Course on Oct. 18th. Proceeds go to the Riley Township parks dept.

Politics are in full swing, nation wide and locally. Keep reading the blogs and you'll know what I mean.

Emmett is having their first annual festival this weekend, see you there.

The soccer leagues are back playing again. It's great seeing the township park getting used so much. Too bad they don't have more parking over there. Maybe we should ask if that's possible.

The planning commission held a public hearing on the adult bookstore and a large crowd showed up for it. No one was in favor of it being allowed. How do you think they're going to vote on that one? Hopefully they will listen to the people and deny it.

WOW! Tempers are rising...

Okay folks, sorry for the delay in responding, been out of town and busy with the garden. Didn't know so many people were interested in my blog. Well, I had a lot of comments to publish and it seems some people were getting upset because they weren't published immediately. Particularly the anonymous writer who won't give their name and likes to make accusations and spread rumors about others. Actually, it sounded kind of personal to me.
Oh well, guess a lot of people have something to say, or an opinion and in some cases UN-truths.
Yeah, I've been here a long time too, and I know alot of people too, and the rumors you are trying to spread are really low. And no I'm not a coward, you will be heard, but so will I.

YOU ASKED FOR IT..

My thoughts on the July board meeting. Well, it was another case of the supervisor trying to interfere with another official's job and a control issue on his part. Rushing slammed the treasurer, kept badgering her for information, it was very un-professional. Belesky is not even running for treasurer again, so what's his reason for such behavior????
So, here's my run down: Rushing was childish and un-professional, Waddy was prepared and informative as usual, Hazelton was not very participating, lost, Belesky was on the defensive but professional, and Titus might as well not been there, useless.
Business was conducted with some stupid input, but at least it was done. Nothing has been done on the River Conservation District yet, they're still in meetings with the planning commission on this. More stalling tactics, possibly.
Anyone else want to comment on the meeting? Please post. Looking forward to hearing other opinions.

I Told You.....

The board did it again, had another joke of a meeting. They didn't hire any office help, because Rushing and Titus couldn't GIVE the job to Hazelton, who didn't vote. Belesky and Waddy wanted to hire someone else who they said was more qualified and impressed them at the interview.

Talk about a joke, the supervisor wanted to stop smoking on ALL township properties, change banks they use, cancel the P.O. Box for the treasurer, and some other stuff. The audience wasn't in favor of these changes and they didn't fly. But can you believe this crap and you know it's not going to stop there. It's an election year and it looks like the game has begun.

SEE FOR YOURSELF........

Go to a township board meeting and see these people in action. I couldn't believe it when Rushing wanted to hire Hazelton for the township office help just because she was the board trustee, nevermind the treasurer and clerk who also conducted the interviews said she wasn't the most qualified. Rushing even mentioned other highly qualified candidates, but he wanted her. But, no one backed him up, so it was tabled. No surprise, with that split board. Now, we have to wait to see if they change their minds and hire Hazelton and in a few months we get to go to the polls and decide if we want to keep her as a trustee, not. As it's been said before she's in it for herself, just as Rushing is, and Titus doesn't know what he's doing. He asks the same questions over and over again, then he says whatever the supervisor thinks best, duh???
Really, go to a meeting and check everyone out for yourself, it will help you decide who to vote for in August. We should know all the candidates soon, if I find out, I'll post them for all of you.

Yep, It's an Election Year

That's right, it's another Election year, and not just for a new President. We'll be voting for local officials, also. Let's see, do we need a change? Are any of the officials doing a good job? How about voting for the people you think are doing a good job and has your best interest at heart? That's what I'm going to do. Yes, I'm going to vote to keep the couple I think is doing a good job, and yes, I think we need a change in the other positions. So, let's get rid of the "Me" "Me" "Me" people and vote in some more "We'" people. It's time to start seriously thinking about it.

The Big Stall

Yep, they're stalling making a decision on the River Conservation District. Now they have a workshop/meeting planned with the Planning Commission. Must be an Election year.. Oh Yah!
Rushing is not going to do anything unless it's the way he wants it, not what's good for the township. Hazelton and Titus goes right along with him, while Belesky and Waddy can't do anything with only two votes, their hands are tied.

So, the stall continues.. wanna bet it's not settled before the Election?
