Public Hearing Update

Okay folks, the public hearing is on Monday Jan. 7, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the township hall. I see there's been a few comments made to the last post. Sounds like some of the same folks I use to follow on Concerned Citizens of Riley's blog, but can't find it anymore, so here I am. I hope to hear from others on "Anything" to do with Riley or the surrounding area.

This River Conservation District zoning change sure sounds pretty important and worth my time attending a meeting, what about yours? From the comments made, it is apparently Supervisor Rushing, Trustee Hazelton and Trustee Titus all in favor of decreasing the RC District and Clerk Waddy and Treasurer Belesky are in favor of the Planning Commission's recommendations. Oh, and by the way, all but Belesky live in the RC District. Wouldn't you think all of them would want to preserve and protect it?

Just heard about the public hearing the Riley Township Board is holding in January, the reason for the meeting is for comments regarding changes to the zoning of the River Conservation District. After checking it out, it comes down to this, the Planning Commission made some changes to the River Conservation District by removing a few parcels and adding a few other parcels, to make corrections they felt needed to be made. They gave these changes to the Township Board, who disagreed on should be done. Two Board members wanted to approve the Planning Commission's recommendations and one wants to change it to only run along with the river and 500 ft. from it.
Wow, this sure takes alot of land out of the River Conservation District and it will create multiple zoning districts on all those properties changed, as I'm told. The river is a major natural resource to the area, why on earth would anyone want to do anything to harm it.
I'll let you know more soon, as soon as I make some more calls.
