Okay folks, the public hearing is on Monday Jan. 7, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the township hall. I see there's been a few comments made to the last post. Sounds like some of the same folks I use to follow on Concerned Citizens of Riley's blog, but can't find it anymore, so here I am. I hope to hear from others on "Anything" to do with Riley or the surrounding area.
This River Conservation District zoning change sure sounds pretty important and worth my time attending a meeting, what about yours? From the comments made, it is apparently Supervisor Rushing, Trustee Hazelton and Trustee Titus all in favor of decreasing the RC District and Clerk Waddy and Treasurer Belesky are in favor of the Planning Commission's recommendations. Oh, and by the way, all but Belesky live in the RC District. Wouldn't you think all of them would want to preserve and protect it?

Do you really think going to the meeting will make a difference? If those three board members are only in it for theirselves, why bother?
Of course, it sure is a shame for the rest of the people in the township, esp. the ones who voted for them to look out for their best interests, not their own.
Going to the meetings is the only way that you can have your voice be heard. It doesn't neccessarily mean that you opinion matters to them. But at least you make certain they know what is important to you and what may sway your vote in the next election. That is less than a year away and perhaps they will want to stay in office.
If there is low turnout, I'm afraid that we will get what they (RUSHING, HAZELTON, TITUS) propose. If enough people show up, the voice of the many will matter!
I just got a letter about this hearing and I'm going to find out what their doing. I called the township and asked some questions, but I want to hear for myself. I think they should leave the river alone and make the lot sizes larger. I really can't believe they don't want to protect the land around the river.
