The Public Hearing had a good turn out, about 60 people showed up. There was a lot of discussion about the River Conservation District and the river. Three maps were displayed with the different possibilities for the district, one as it is now, one that the planning commission recomended and the third was only 500 ft. from the center of the river. The planning commission chairman, Tom Miller was there and explained some of what has taken place pretty well. He and the supervisor didn't agree on everything that was said. The board took a vote from the people there to see which map they favored, with the planning commission's map getting the most votes. They had to vote twice because the people were getting confused. In the end the board tabled any decision on the map at that meeting.
At the February board meeting, they tabled the decision again. Now they want to have a workshop meeting with the planning commision. Why didn't they do that before? Why are they putting off making a decision when the planning commission already studied this topic and has alot of time into it already? Someone spoke up and said they should trust the planning commission to do their job as they were appointed to do. Hmmm. Now we have to wait and see what they do next, probably change it again. ???????

If the supervisor recommends those on the planning commission, and the entire board approves their appointment, why aren't they allowed to do their job? Were they not all agreed to by the board and voted on with 100% agreement? Is it possibly because the supervisor now has his property involved?
I suspect that little will happen now with this being an election year. With no changes being made to River Conservation, the supervisor (Dave Rushing) will not have to do anything to maintain the status quo on his property. He can appear as though he cares and delay till after November. We'll wait and see, but I believe the tactics will be to delay, and deny for this years election.
Hey Riley citizen, I agree. It will be delayed, that seems pretty obvious.
WHAT PLANNING COMMISSION???????? Sounds like the twp. board is making all the decisions. We paid the planning comm. to do the research and Rushing (with his two stooges) doesn't like the outcome. The planning comm. members might as well just discuss their personel lives and drink beer at their meetings. Rushing (with the two stooges) have taken their power away. BRING THE BEER. I'LL BRING THE HOT DOGS!!!!!!!!!
